Little intro

Hello folks ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ I am Raj and a passionate Frontend Developer who loves to build things. I am writing this article after been a part of Hashnode Bootcamp The Art & Business of Technical Writing. In this article, I will be writing my journey in blogging. Lets start now.

How did I start?

I grew up as a kid with books all around me as my father was a bookworm then (he doesn't read anymore now, LOL). He was so attached to books that even while having food, he used to read.

Seeing him, I unknowingly got tempted by books๐Ÿ“š and then started reading a lot of books of different genre. As I started reading, somehow I began to write short stories and essays.

It was in class 9 when I secured the second position in Interschool District Level Essay Writing Competition and then got some cash as a reward.

That is when I got motivated and knew that writing can definitely help me in some ways in my life.

However, after finishing my school level education I discontinued my writing and got busy with my studies.

I didn't write until I completed my graduation and as I entered the tech field in 2019 as a Frontend Developer my journey of writing started but in dribs and drabs.

As I enjoyed reading, I created a blog on blogspot on 24th July 2019 and started writing the review of those books that I read. However, after writing some articles I dropped that too.

Being a developer, we have to google a lot. One day as I was googling, I came across a blogging platform called dev.to and I was fascinated by the tons of useful information it carried. I even wrote an article related to My Time Management Tool) in that platform and wrote a revised version in Hashnode as well.

Till now I was not writing consistently. But it all changed when I discovered Hashnode in late January of 2021. I was thrilled by the customization it provided such as:

  • I always wanted to create a blog and this desire was fulfilled by Hashnode.
  • I wanted a newsletter of my articles to send my readers and Hashnode supports it.
  • You even can monetize your blog.

Still I don't write consistently however I write more often than the previous days. Here is my first article which I published on 30th January 2021 on Hashnode where I have explained how I learned Grid and the resources used.

What motivates me?

  • There are numerous developers out there who genuinely want to help newcomers in the tech/programming field. Being a dev myself, I want to help newbies by providing resources so they could learn themselves. Primarily, a desire to help motivates me to write what I learn and how I learnt.

  • I want to document each and every step of my learning process. This way I will know how far have I come and what to learn next. The best way to do so is by blogging and thanks to Hashnode that is helping me out in this matter.

  • A desire to network with like-minded people forces me to write.

  • A great job is what everyone desires and I m no exception. I truly believe writing will definitely land me a nice job.

  • Maybe ๐Ÿค” I could turn this skill into a side hustle one day. Who knows?

All these thoughts motivate me to do what I am doing.

Conclusion

Hashnode is the only platform where I have gone so far and have been a phenomenal companion for me. Its been nine months with Hashnode. Cheers to the Hashnode team for proving such an awesome platform to hang out.

I am truly grateful to these awesome people Sam Sycamore for hosting this awesome bootcamp, Quincy Larson and Edidiong Asikpo for providing valuable insights regarding technical writing.

As Edidiong Asikpo says - "If you want to master something, teach it" lets share our knowledge and build a great dev community.
